2. Nuts, seeds and mealworms

With so many seed mixes available, it's easy to cater to your garden birds. Offer a variety of nuts and seeds in different feeders to attract a wide range of species and enjoy the delightful surprise of new winter visitors.

3. Keeping feeders clean

To keep your garden birds healthy, clean your bird feeders regularly. When a feeder is empty, scrub it with warm soapy water, rinse it well, dry it completely, and then refill it. Also, remember to check and clean your bird tables and bird baths.

4. Fresh ice-free water

Imagine a meal without a drink! Birds need water for drinking and bathing. Provide it in bird baths or even plant trays placed on a table, adding stones for easier access. If it freezes, be sure to thaw it out.

5. Ground feeders

To help birds through the winter, provide food both on bird tables and on the ground. While many birds will use both, offering ground food, such as mealworms, is particularly important when food is scarce and birds need to conserve energy.
