Home Garden Shop Shrubs & Conifers

When you visit Carpenter’s Nursery to select from our selection of shrubs & conifers, you’ll likely want to also check out our Herbaceous Perennials that we are well known for. After almost 100 years of owning and operating our family business, Carpenter’s Nursery is a name synonymous with quality plants of all kinds.

Some shrubs lend themselves well to container gardening whilst others thrive in wide open spaces. The same is true for various varieties of conifers, and so we suggest you talk to us so that we can better assist you in choosing the right plants for the space you have available. Patio gardening is an art and once you’ve learned the artistry behind planning a potted garden, you can still enjoy the best nature has to offer, even with plants that are traditionally considered outdoor varieties.

Seasonal and Perennial Shrubs

Some shrubs you will want to plant to form a thick, royal border or hedge around your home and these are typically those that grow throughout the year. Other shrubs you will plant strategically bordering your garden and these are seasonal in nature. Some of the most beloved garden shrubs are the seasonally blooming, Azaleas and Camellias. These produce beautifully coloured blooms that do well in a garden but can also be grown in large pots on a patio if you’ve room.

The only thing difficult about choosing from the shrubs you’ll find at Carpenter’s Nursery is deciding on which of the lovely plants you must have. With so many varieties like Hebe, Hydrangeas, Ribes, Euonymus, Cornus and Berberis, you may want some of everything but space just won’t allow it. Let us help you choose which shrubs work best together for the space you have and in the setting they will be planted in.

Conifers for Hedging – Some Really Can Be Potted!

When it comes to hedging, we have found that some of the most popular varieties throughout all of the UK include Laurel, Beech, Hawthorn and Privet, but don’t stop there! Did you know that we can even get our hands on some of the more exotic varieties of conifers such as a number of evergreen species that do well even in containers? Through our specialist suppliers we can usually find what you’re looking for.

At Carpenter’s Nursery, we can show you the varieties we keep on hand or can help you decide which you’d like us to special order for you. Talk to us on 01727 853340 or visit us at 106 St Albans Road, Sandridge, St Albans, Herts, AL4 9LJ.
